The Pembrokeshire Coast Path was an unbelievable challenge and a really beautiful walk - a lot more challenging than I expected it to be honest. The views, from the cliff tops, to the numerous coves, inlets and fishing villages was sensational. One of the key benefits of this particular walk was the ability to look back ( or forward ) down ( or up), the Coast to see where you you had come from in the last 24 or 48 hours.
So for some Statistics - usually the Bendables domain.
Bendy's total kilometres 312.77 kilometres
Twitchy's total kilometres 309.15 kilometres
This difference was due to the "hard cases" and "soft cases" taking a different routes on the morning of Day 4.
So bragging rights goes to the bearded one!!
All up it took us 15 days, with no rest days.
It was a fairly easy start, ramping up the distance and difficulty as we went along.
The last three days, were bloody hard.
Almost too hard for this little black duck....
In terms of Mrs Bendy ( Limpee ) and Mrs Twitchy ( Bungee ), they exceeded 200 kilometres and 175 kilometres respectively.
Special thanks and appreciation to them both, in their willing participation and putting up with us and our determination to finish no matter what.
Not following the acorns was never an option, unless we needed an ambulance or ended up in a box.
A top 5 ( of goodness ).
Best accommodation:
- Allenbrook B&B ( Dale )
Best meal:
- Lamb chops (at the Golden Lion - Fishguard)
Best town/village:
- Lower Solva.
Best highlight:
- The Welsh brumbies charging at us on the way to Trefin ( Day 12 )
Best Beer:
- Grolsch
The weather was very good most of the time, and it was bloody fantastic to finish in glorious sunshine ( and a Pub ).
A few frothies were sunk......
The fat lady has sung!!!
All in all a truely excellent adventure.
Until next time .....
Twitchy
