The support crew drove us back to our starting point at the sleepy hamlet of Trefonen. We waved good-bye, on what we expected to be an easy uneventful day.
And so it was.....
Apart from a rather tasty hill early on, today was pretty tame and flat.......and it was longer than expected (again). This time she topped out at 31.67 kilometres.
Tomorrow is meant to be shorter, but I am losing faith in the distances in the Trailblazer guide book.
Please be a short day.
Please.
Today was interesting as it was different.
Like yesterday we spent some time on Offa's Dyke - talk about something being overrated.
It snaked across the country side, basically a treeless mound of cow dung for the most part. A big boring snooze fest.
And then there was a shed load of paddocks.
And that meant shed loads of cows. There they were guarding Offa's Dyke for all its worth - just an elongated cow pat.
On a positive note, we travelled along two separate sections of the Montgomery canal, with the last section taking us into the centre of Welshpool. In both cases it was both sad and beautiful. Sad to see an old canal allowed to slowly die, and beautiful to see these magnificent canals and locks despite the years of neglect.
And on we plodded into town - Welshpool.
Not happy we had two days over 30 kilometres, well my feet are not happy.
In fact they are very unhappy....
The support crew went into Shrewsbury, an old English market town. Checked out the shops, the market place and soaked up the old English ambience.
And so the great weather ends....
Tomorrow the rain ☔️ begins.
Shit!!!
