Bendy Day 7 - Milford Haven to Dale

17.8Km in 5:18
We had a late depature from Miford Haven as we needed to judge the tides for the creek crossing at Sandy Haven. We walked around the marina area and visited a few shops (well Gail and Libby did).

We headed off at 1130. The path wound through streets and around an industrial complex (possibly oil or gas) before going back to the coastal cliffs.  The wind was blowing a bit stronger than the last few days but thankfully it wasn't a head wind.  We got to the Sandy Haven crossing just before 1330 and it was easy to cross as it was an ebbing tide (10 minutes earlier the path would have been covered in water.

From here the path continued through woodland areas,  grassy meadows and along the bracken covered cliffs.

The wind was relentless and there was rain/ drizzle in it (jackets on and off day). We stopped for a short break at a navigational beacon above Butts Bay.

Continuing along the cliff tops we stopped at Monks Haven which has a couple of old ruins ( not dating back too far but impressive).

Shortly after Monks Haven we were walking on a pebble beach towards our second estuary crossing, The Gann, near Dale. We had been told by a couple of walkers we met today that the footbridge had a section of it missing and that we may get wet feet.  Yep, there was a section missing, about 4 metres of it in the middle.  We had timed the tides well so we managed to get across with only wet boots and not wet feet.

The Gann crossing

We found the accommodation in Dale, Allenbrook (we came in the back gate) at about 1630. A reasonably short walk today  but it had it's challenges with the wind, terrain and estuary crossings.
