Bendy Day 5 - Angle to Pembroke

20.2 Km in 5:46
Really good breakfast of porridge then off again at 0910 (A tad stiff and sore after yesterday).

Today's walk followed the southern coast of Milford Haven and the Pembroke River. It was a mix of beautiful woodland corridors, open fields and roads (thankfully not a lot of roads). There were the usual omissions and inaccuracies of the guide book maps but again the wooden sign posts saved the day.

We skirted around an oil refinery which was loud and stinky but that was soon left behind us.

We went past a really old church nestled in a lovely area almost like rainforest. It dated back to 1345

At one place we surprised a herd of steers; they got a fright as we appeared out of nowhere. We gingerly continued on our way and at the end of the track a few steers stood their ground. We moved past them cautiously, not letting them know we were concerned. We went through the gate, looked behind us and noted the whole herd had followed us; I think they have been fed hay recently and were expecting us to feed them.

The guide book map of Pembroke is inadequate and streets are not sign posted. After a bit of zigging and zagging we got to our accommodation, (the Coach House) around 1530. Our bags were in our rooms and they did a laundry service at a reasonable rate so we took advantage of that.

After the usual exploding of bags and a freshen up Lib and I went for a walk around Pembroke. It is a lovely city with a magnificent castle (built in the 10th centuray).
