Caught the 0901 Celtic Coaster bus back to St Justinians and started walking at about 0920.
At the 17km mark we were at a small beach (car park and ice cream van) called Abereiddy. Libby and Gail had previously decided to leave the path here. They had done a mammoth effort to get here as the going had been tough. There is little mobile phone reception and the taxi company was not interested in the fare; Geoff hailed down a local woman in her car and convinced her to take Libby and Gail to our final town for today. We don't know who she was but she is a true good Samaritan.
Again no wind today just a gentle breeze. Easy grade walk to Whitesands Bay which was full of people as a surf lifesaving carnival was being held there. From there the track took us up onto St David's Head. This is covered in heather and gorse which are flowering at the moment. In places the path was difficult to see but we managed to keep heading in the correct direction.
We had a close encounter with a herd of wild horses. They ran towards us and beyond to get to high ground; they came within 10 metres of us at a gallop.
The path winds it's way along the cliff tops and it is possible to see seals in the coves (you have to get fairly close to the edge to see them so I decided not to bother - I hate heights).
The 'fun' started at about 1300 when we climbed the side of Carn Penberry which is a 175m chunck of rock. The path seemed to never stop going up.

Geoff and I continued on for the final 6 and a bit Km. We came into the village of Portgain which is a lovely little village and it used to be a busy slate exporting port (there are remnants of the slate mines before you get to the village).

The coastline around here is different to what we have seen over the past days. We went past an impressive flat topped island called "Ynys Fach".
We rolled into Trefin at about 1715. Tough day but more to come. We had dinner at the local pub "The Ship Inn" which was full of walkers from around the town and youth hostile.
Tomorrow is a huge day that only Twitchy and I will do. We're not really looking forward to it.
